Diversionary Activities

WPH regularly runs activities to engage with young people in the community and encourage positive behaviours.

 WPH trip to Knowsley Safari

In 2009, WPH teamed up with Merseyside Police to fund a trip for local children to Knowsley Safari Park to keep them entertained over the Easter holidays.

WPH Estate Officer, Dominic Tulley and Merseyside Police Community Support Officer, Clare Sopp work closely with residents in the Seacombe and Poulton areas. They were particularly pleased to be able to offer local children a free day trip to the Safari Park, a trip they may not have had the opportunity to enjoy had it not been funded by the two organisations. The funding paid for 24 local children and five adults to enjoy all the activities at the Safari Park including the rides, Sealion show and ‘Aerial Extreme’ which is an adventure assault course for kids and adults.

The initiative gave a group of young people the chance to spend their Easter holidays doing something fun but also educational. A large part of Neighbourhood Policing is to look at ways in which the police can work with partnership agencies, like WPH, to provide activities for young people to do. This was a positive activity which was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved and made sure the children were bust during the Easter holidays.
