How to apply for housing
We want to give you as much choice as possible when you are deciding where you would like to live.
To do this, we work with Wirral Council and all other housing associations in Wirral to operate a 'choice based lettings' scheme. This scheme is called Wirralhomes, and it means that you simply register once - and then you are able to make a 'bid' for properties at 13 different Housing Associations.
In order to apply for a WPH property, you need to have an application on file at Wirralhomes.
How to register:
- You can register on the database by visiting any One Stop shop or phoning Wirralhomes on 0151 691 8040. Alternatively, you may download an application form . The form must be printed, completed and returned to Wirralhomes at the postal address provided. You will be given a Reference Number and registration date.
- Almost anyone over the age of 16 years may register on the database although some people who are subject to immigration control may not qualify.
- People with a history of anti-social behaviour may be suspended from registering with Wirralhomes. For more information please download Wirralhomes Policy for Suspension and Limited Application .
- It is important that you inform Wirralhomes of any changes in your circumstances. If you do not, your application may be cancelled
- Some applicants may need to move urgently. We will assess your application and you may be awarded ‘Urgent Need Status’ which will give priority over other applicants for many advertised vacancies.
- Applicants with a disability who need to move to an adapted or easily accessible property, may be registered on the Disabled Person’s Housing Register. Please remember the following points when applying for properties.
- Read the property details carefully and check you fit the lettings criteria before you apply
- You may apply for a maximum of two properties each week, not including ‘Readily Available’ properties
- The closing date for receiving expressions of interest is normally Tuesday at 2pm each week
