Mersey fire and rescue award WPHWirral Partnership Homes has been awarded a Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Certificate of Merit for the work carried out on the Noctorum Estate during bonfire week.

Sam Brown, WPH Enforcement Officer, worked tirelessly with WPH customers on how best to celebrate bonfire night while ensuring everyone stays safe.

Sam was proactive in getting the support of local authorities which included Ridgeway High School and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services but more importantly, the local residents who took ultimate responsibility.

Sam said, “I was so very proud of each and every one of our customers and proud that our partners really embraced the work we are doing.  The event passed without incident which was a huge success and I would like to thank everyone.  This shows what we can achieve.”

Sam Brown accepted the certificate on behalf of WPH and said, “Last year during bonfire week, the Noctorum Estate flagged up as a hot spot area.  It was classed as the worst area for acts of Anti-social Behaviour and criminal damage across the whole of Merseyside.

Following the work WPH carried out with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services, Merseyside Police and Wirral Borough Council, there was a significant reduction in all acts of Anti-Social Behaviour and nuisance.

Sam said, “WPH worked very closely with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services and the results are clear.  Because of the work we did, Noctorum was one of safest places to be on bonfire night.  I am very happy with the results and we are now looking forward to next year and how we can improve even further.”
