WPH held their first Annual Tenants Conference on Thursday 10th December at the newly built Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton.
Over 100 residents donate their time on a regular basis to help improve the services WPH provide, and the theme of the day was to say a big thank you. These residents work tirelessly in their communities and play an active role in reviewing and developing WPH services.
The day also saw the official launch of the WPH Umbrella scheme, which will embrace all tenant and resident groups and support their activities.
Guests were treated to spectacular views across the River Mersey and were able to enjoy a hot drink and piece of Christmas cake before the event started. There were carols and Christmas songs provided by the WPH Staff Choir.
On arrival into the conference suite, Team Leaders had set up stalls showing the roles of each section within WPH. Residents were able to spend time with each team, asking questions and completing surveys with any changes they would like to see made.
The conference was officially opened by the honourable Mayor of Wirral, Andrew Hodson and was followed with a heartfelt thank you from WPH Chief Executive, Brian Simpson.
After this, guests were treated to a motivational speech on fun and laughter by well known tv actor, Bill Rodgers. Bill, whose work includes Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Life on Mars, brought the house down with his techniques on “Homour-robics” and stories about his family.
The event launched the Tenant Awards, in which communities and members of staff acknowledged the hard work residents carry out. The categories included Long Service Award, Best Newcomer, Best Community Event, Best Young Person, Best Fundraiser and Outstanding Contribution.
To conclude the event, WPH employees sang We Wish you a Merry Christmas and Santa Claus is Coming to Town and, in return, guests treated staff to an impromptu sing a long to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
As they left, guests were given a WPH umbrella in recognition of the Umbrella scheme and to help them keep dry over the festive period.
