Residents in Wirral are growing a variety of vegetables and plenty of community spirit thanks to their new raised beds funded by a WPH Community Grant.
As part of the work to engage tenants, the Site Management Officer for the area asked them if they wanted to make better use of the rear communal garden. And the idea of a community vegetable patch was planted!
Harry Kennedy, a resident in the area, said, “It’s fantastic! We’ve got cabbages, potatoes, carrots and turnips all growing nicely. I can’t wait for them to be ready.”
Sally Kew, WPH’s Community Development Coordinator, said, “Growing your own vegetables is an excellent way to get your five a day and the community vegetable patch has the added advantage of bringing neighbours together.”
